Why we decided to build industry scouting ourselves.

Our experience began with industrial journeys in the opposite direction. Today, European decision-makers want to understand what is genuinely changing in Chinese industry—and what it means for their own company.

China Industry Deep Dive. A platform for industry.

China Industry Deep Dive is the dedicated industrial study-visit brand developed with strong commitment by Sino-Cooperation. It is more than a service: it is a platform connecting hands-on professionals from German and Chinese industry. Alongside our core team led by Wei Zhang and Yijun Yu, we work closely with experienced industry experts and consultants based in Germany and China. We provide the infrastructure and our network in China; our partners contribute deep industry insight and the trust of their clients.

Four principles shape every route.

01

Question before route

Participant profiles, decision questions and desired outcomes are clarified before a programme is designed.

02

Relevance before rank

We connect you with business leaders or senior managers with a technical background, matched to your strategic question.

03

Application before presentation

We look for production reality, working systems and technical dialogue—not a sequence of interchangeable showrooms.

04

The next step is part of the work

We support implementation locally and track relevant industry developments through a monthly Executive Briefing.

What sets us apart.

1. Before the journey – Needs & planning

Conventional business tripChina Industry Deep Dive
  • Focus on the itinerary, logistics and as many appointments as possible
  • Companies selected from predefined lists or familiar names
  • Standardised preparation without an in-depth needs assessment
  • An individual needs assessment as the starting point for the journey
  • Companies selected to match specific strategic objectives
  • Technical preparation and briefing of the Chinese counterparts

2. On site – Companies & insights

Conventional business tripChina Industry Deep Dive
  • Focus on showrooms and company presentations
  • Often superficial insights into products and technologies
  • Emphasis on well-known large companies
  • Insights into real production, technology and industrial applications
  • Direct dialogue with technical and business decision-makers
  • Inclusion of specialised SMEs and relevant industrial ecosystems

3. On site – Exchange & contacts

Conventional business tripChina Industry Deep Dive
  • Formal networking and many superficial contacts
  • Counterparts do not always match the strategic questions
  • Individual company visits often remain disconnected
  • Targeted matchmaking with relevant decision-makers
  • Substantive peer-to-peer exchange rather than company presentations alone
  • Connections between companies, researchers, associations and other stakeholders

4. After the journey – Implementation

Conventional business tripChina Industry Deep Dive
  • Support often ends on returning home
  • The trip report and business cards remain the main outcomes
  • Contacts are not developed systematically
  • Support in developing concrete business relationships and implementing projects
  • Continuous monitoring of relevant developments in China + a tailored monthly Executive Briefing
  • Long-term support rather than a one-off business trip

The direction of travel has changed. The decisive question has not.

For years, we accompanied Chinese industrial companies to Germany for technical dialogue, company visits and meetings with potential partners. Increasingly, the question now comes from Europe. Companies do not simply want to see a market. They want to understand why technologies in China move into real applications so quickly, and what that means for their own position.

We kept seeing the same pattern: a journey can be organised perfectly and still offer little orientation. Famous names, presentations and showrooms do not answer a company’s specific management question.

China Industry Deep Dive grew out of that contradiction. We do not begin with a sequence of cities or a company list. We begin with the decision that should be better informed after the journey.

“Decision-makers do not need the largest possible number of appointments. They need relevant insight.”

Hear Wei Zhang explain the idea behind the format

Our founding team.

Wei Zhang and Yijun Yu lead our core team. Working with experienced industry experts and advisers in Germany and China, they connect technical dialogue with our network and delivery on the ground.

How contacts become relevant access.

Our core team, led by Wei Zhang and Yijun Yu, provides the infrastructure and network in China. Experienced industry experts and consultants in Germany and China contribute sector knowledge and the trust of their clients.

The European question. We translate strategy, technical interests and participant profiles into clear research and conversation criteria.

Industry work in China. Industry contacts, associations, regional actors and local partners identify suitable companies, experts and application settings.

The curated conversation. We prepare both sides, moderate the technical exchange and capture defensible next steps.

What the work looks like on site.

Documented scenes from Ningbo: build a shared technical understanding, discuss specific components and processes, and use that exchange to shape the right follow-up conversations.

The journey is only the visible part.

Before

Participant-specific scoping and, where the format allows, short one-to-one briefings, a precise learning question and qualification of potential counterparts.

On site

Expert context, dialogue with the people responsible for the relevant function and access to real applications and value creation.

Afterwards

Synthesis of the findings, prioritisation of contacts and preparation of a pilot, supplier assessment, channel discussion or further cooperation.

How we prepare access.

Specific hosts and counterparts depend on fit, availability, participant vetting and approval. We actively prepare access to production and development and dialogue with decision-makers.

Your China radar—beyond the journey.

You receive a tailored monthly Executive Briefing. We track the industry developments that matter to you and support you locally in turning contacts into concrete cooperation and projects.

Which question should your China journey answer?

Your sector, participant profiles and three core questions are enough for an initial scoping conversation. From that, we develop a defensible learning corridor—not an interchangeable itinerary.
